Forrest General’s Spirit of Women will host two fabulous events in October – A Home for Harvest and A Morning at Midtown!
First, throw on your gardening clothes, grab a few friends, and join Spirit of Women and Catherine Strange at the Henington House and Gardens for A Home for Harvest! The event will be held October 4 from 9:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. at Henington House (106 Walnut Street in Hattiesburg).
Attendees will gather at 9:30 a.m. to register and enjoy coffee and baked treats while browsing some of our favorite and hard to find plants, seeds, pumpkins and other items that will be available to purchase. Next, Catherine will take everyone on a tour of the Henington House gardens to share what works and what doesn’t work in Southern gardens, how to create “Garden Rooms” and to discuss what to plant in order to assure a bountiful harvest year round.
Following the garden tour, attendees will circle back to the front lawn for a seated Fall Decorating Demonstration where Catherine will also share simple holiday entertaining ideas and traditions. Then Catherine will lead everyone on a tour of the circa 1905 Henington House. Lunch will follow outdoors on the wrap around porches and lawns. It will be a comforting closing to an enjoyable, fun and information-filled day. Copies of the recipes for all that was served during the day will be sent home with anyone who would like them.
For the next amazing event in October, Spirit of Women will partner with Hotel Indigo to bring A Morning at Midtown on Tuesday, October 9 from 10 a.m. until 11:30 a.m.
Attendees will gather at The Brass Hat at the Hotel Indigo to welcome the folks of Midtown to our City. Everyone will enjoy a preview of the hotel, sample foods from Midtown businesses, door prizes and health information. This event will be the perfect way to explore the newest hot spots in town!
Cost to attend A Home for Harvest is $45 for Spirit of Women members and $55 for non-members. The deadline to register is Monday, October 1.
